Dear Mr. Miranda;
I was so happy to see that you guys are still around....thank
you, God! I remember & so much loved your rendition of
"See You In September". As good as their version was,
The Tempos had NOTHING on you guys! I still get a little sad
when I hear it, because I had just arrived in Vietnam when it
became a hit. I was 18 years old at the time in 1966, & a
"Tunnel Rat" with A Troop, 3/4th Cavalry, 25th
Infantry Division.
On a lighter note however, one of the first songs I head on the
radio in the plane on the way back home from Vietnam in 1967
(when the plane got close enough to the west coast & our
little transistor radio's started working again) was "I've
Got Rythym".
To this very day nearly 40 years later, I will always think of
& associate that song with the greatest day of my life (next
to the birth of my children), which was the day I came home to
the USA, my family & my friends in Lodi, NJ.
Final note-trivia/connection department...My girlfriend
Caroline's Grand Father Guiseppe ("Joe") Maranzani
knew your late Dad (or was it your Uncle....she wasn't quite
sure?) "Ralph The Plumber" quite well, as he had done
work at "Grandpa Joe's" house, along with many other
homes in the Bergen County area. Caroline (who later bought this
same house from her Grand Father) remembered Ralph as being a
really great guy who was also quite an accomplished Ballroom
Dancer, and of course rightfully proud of your success.
So that's it for now, guys. I have your concert schedule from
your really great website. One day when I get to see all of you
in concert, I would love to say "Hello" &
"Thank you", for the gift of your music, and for the
wonderful memories you have made possible for myself & so
many, many other Veterans.
May God continue to bless all of you always.
Respectfully,
Sergeant First Class
